This is undoubtedly our favorite walk in the area and perfect for families with children of all ages.

    How does it work?

You take the train at Dinant-Anseremme station (not the main station!) towards Bertrix. After just 5 minutes you get off in Gendron. The weekend fare is only €2.50 per person - a bargain!

From Gendron station you walk back to Dinant, following the Lesse river the whole way. The route is about 8 km and takes around 3 hours, including breaks.

    Highlights along the way

    The walk offers beautiful variety:

    • The high railway bridge - Halfway through you cross twice via an impressive old railway bridge, high above the Lesse. Perfectly safe with railings, but spectacular!
    • Walzin beach - A lovely spot to pause. In warm weather the children can paddle in the water. Ideal for a picnic.
    • Walzin Castle - The fairytale castle on the rocks is one of the most beautiful views of the walk.
    • Pedestrian bridge - Just before Dinant you cross via a narrow pedestrian bridge.

    With a buggy?

This walk is largely buggy-friendly! The path is paved and flat. Only at the two railway bridges and the pedestrian bridge do you need to lift the buggy briefly (a few steps each time). No climbing or scrambling.

    Arrival in Dinant

You arrive along the Meuse with a beautiful view of the citadel and the cathedral of Dinant. Walk on to the supermarket for a well-deserved ice cream!
