ArdenNest has 9 bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom (shower or bath, toilet, sink) — that's 9 bathrooms total. The breakdown: 3 rooms for 2 people, 4 rooms for 3 people, and 2 rooms for 4 people with a mezzanine. 26 single beds in total. No shared bathrooms, no morning queues.

Yes — the house was deliberately designed for this. Grandparents, parents and children each find their space: quiet corners in the living room for those wanting a break from the noise, a large garden for those needing to burn energy, a playroom and converted play barn for the youngest. The ground floor is accessible for those with reduced mobility. The central oak table then brings everyone back together for shared meals.

No separate wings to split the group — everything centres around one focal point, so the group really feels like one group.

The kitchen is equipped to professional hospitality standards with a Lacanche range cooker (French artisanal manufacture), large refrigerators, a freezer, professional Miele dishwasher, oven and everything you need to cook for 26 people at once. Not a domestic setup that struggles past 8 guests — this is a kitchen designed to handle group meals effortlessly, whether you cook yourselves, cook together, or have catering brought in.

Yes. The oak table is 7.2 metres long and seats all 26 people at once — deliberately the heart of the house. No separate kids' table, no second sitting for those running late. For groups whose vacation is mainly about being together, that single table makes the difference between "we're sharing a house" and "we're experiencing this together." The table sits in the living area with a direct view of the garden.

What's not provided: personalised luxury linens or decoration — that's where you bring your own accent.

Both work, and both are common. Cooking yourselves is part of the stay for many groups — the kitchen has enough space and the oak table is big enough to linger around for hours. Bieke can introduce you to local names who already know the house and kitchen. No mandatory supplier.

Yes — often the main reason families return. The garden is 2 hectares, enclosed, and offers safe play space without parents needing to keep constant watch. A playroom indoors with toys, and a converted play barn for the very youngest. Several high chairs are available; cots we kindly ask you to bring yourselves. The house itself is robust, no white-leather-sofa stress — kids can be kids.

The garden is fully enclosed, so small children can't wander off to the road. No pool, no pond — a deliberate choice so the garden is truly worry-free for those with toddlers. But: play equipment, a football pitch, large lawns for running. What parents should still watch themselves: smaller risks like plants or a gravel path — normal garden awareness is enough.

Don't forget: the Belgian Ardennes are at their most beautiful in rain and mist — a short walk often delivers the most atmospheric scenes.

Check-in is from 16:00, check-out by 10:00. We keep the window between free for cleaning — so you always find the house in the same condition. Bieke is there in person on arrival to welcome you and walk you through the house. What if we arrive earlier?

An earlier check-in is sometimes possible by arrangement, depending on the cleaning that day — no guarantee, but no flat "no" either. Send Bieke a message a few days ahead and we'll see what works. Arriving really early (in the morning)? On /early-arrival (https://ardennest.be/early-arrival) on the site you'll find what's possible in the meantime — a walk around Bouillon or a terrace in Dinant, for example.

Yes, free wifi throughout the house — indoors and on the terrace. The connection is strong enough for multiple people streaming or video calling at once, if needed. But honestly: the best part of ArdenNest is where you put your phone down.

Free parking for 9 cars on the property. No street parking, no blue zone, no "who parks where" worries. Caravans and larger vans welcome; let Bieke know in advance to be sure.

Yes, one charging point on the property, no card or app — just plug in and charge, works with all electric vehicles. Consumption is tracked; after your stay you receive a settlement with a graph of the daily charge and the corresponding cost. No subscription, no surprises.

Standard inclusions: full bedding (sheets, duvets, pillows), bath and kitchen towels for all guests, end-of-stay cleaning, heating and basic supplies (dish soap, hand soap, toilet paper for the first days). How does utility consumption work (heating, electricity, firewood)?

Heating and electricity are included — no surprises at the end of the stay. For the wood stove / fireplace in the living room we work with crates of wood: you pay per crate you open and use, settled fairly after the stay. Bringing your own wood for the stove is not allowed — our stove is designed for specifically dried wood, and unsuitable firewood can damage it.

The ground floor is accessible: living room, oak table, kitchen, an accessible toilet — all reachable without stairs. All bedrooms are on the upper floor, only accessible by stairs. For guests with stair difficulties, this is something to assess carefully in advance. Send Bieke a message with the specific situation (wheelchair, walker, limited stair mobility) — we can then honestly assess whether ArdenNest is feasible, or whether another option would suit you better.

Rates vary by season, weekdays vs weekends, and length of stay — a family weekend in October is priced differently from a week in school holidays. What is the minimum stay?

Standard minimum: 2 nights. In high season (Belgian, Dutch and German school holidays, Easter, Christmas and New Year), the minimum is 7 nights — so the stay stays relaxed for you and logistically workable for us. For 3 nights during a high-season week, you can contact Bieke: sometimes an exception is possible if there are gaps in the calendar.

For popular periods (school holidays, long weekends, Christmas and New Year), we recommend booking 3 to 6 months ahead — those dates are often full a year in advance. For weekends and quieter periods (November, January-February outside holidays), 1 to 2 months is usually enough. Last-minute also works: check /booking (https://ardennest.be/booking) or contact Bieke directly — sometimes a slot opens through cancellation.

No. The price on /booking (https://ardennest.be/booking) is all-in: bedding, end-of-stay cleaning, heating, electricity, wifi, parking. On top of the stay rate, only the following are added: the statutory tourist tax, a deposit, and consumption of firewood (per crate opened) and the EV charger (based on actual usage). How does cancellation work?

We recommend every group consider cancellation insurance, especially for large group stays where the chance of a last-minute drop-out is higher. In case of force majeure (official travel ban, death in immediate family), we always look for a personal solution.

By public transport: train to Gedinne station, then bus line (stop Gedinne Kewet, a few minutes' walk from the house). Detailed directions + travel tips are sent with the booking confirmation.

Are pets allowed?

We don't welcome pets — to ensure a worry-free stay for guests with allergies, and because the upholstery and furniture wouldn't withstand repeated animal visits. We know your pet is part of the family and ask for your understanding. Bieke can recommend a trusted dog sitter or pet boarding nearby on request.

Is smoking allowed?

Indoors, no smoking — for the smell in upholstery and curtains, and out of respect for the next guests. Outside on the terrace or in the garden, yes, using the provided ashtrays. Butts or cigarettes left on the grass are sensitive in the Ardennes, especially in dry summers; we ask you to dispose of everything properly.

Can we organise a party or event here?

ArdenNest is made for quality time — long conversations at the oak table, kids tearing around the garden, evenings that fade by the fireplace. What we are not: a party venue. Weddings, bridal suites, bachelor/ette parties with loud music, corporate parties with DJ until dawn — that doesn't fit this place or the neighbours. A birthday, anniversary or family weekend with dinner and music until a reasonable hour is of course fine. In doubt: send Bieke your plan, we'll look together.
