Capacity & sleeping arrangement

1.How many people can ArdenNest accommodate?

ArdenNest accommodates up to 26 people, with a maximum of 18 adults — a deliberate choice to preserve the balance between liveliness and calm. This capacity lets multigenerational families, groups of friends, or company retreats stay together without anyone being relegated to a separate wing. All 26 fit comfortably around the central oak table.

2.How many bedrooms and bathrooms are there?

ArdenNest has 9 bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom (shower or bath, toilet, sink) — that's 9 bathrooms total. The breakdown: 3 rooms for 2 people, 4 rooms for 3 people, and 2 rooms for 4 people with a mezzanine. 26 single beds in total. No shared bathrooms, no morning queues.

3.Is ArdenNest suitable for multiple generations together?

Yes — the house was deliberately designed for this. Grandparents, parents and children each find their space: quiet corners in the living room for those wanting a break from the noise, a large garden for those needing to burn energy, a playroom and converted play barn for the youngest. The ground floor is accessible for those with reduced mobility. The central oak table then brings everyone back together for shared meals.

4.Can multiple families stay together?

Yes, this is one of the most common stays at ArdenNest. With 9 ensuite bedrooms, each family keeps its own privacy, and the shared spaces (oak table, large living room, professional kitchen, garden) are spacious enough for 3 to 5 families to coexist without getting in each other's way. No separate wings to split the group — everything centres around one focal point, so the group really feels like one group.

Cooking & dining together

5.How is the kitchen equipped?

The kitchen is equipped to professional hospitality standards with a Lacanche range cooker (French artisanal manufacture), large refrigerators, a freezer, professional Miele dishwasher, oven and everything you need to cook for 26 people at once. Not a domestic setup that struggles past 8 guests — this is a kitchen designed to handle group meals effortlessly, whether you cook yourselves, cook together, or have catering brought in.

6.Do we all dine at one table?

Yes. The oak table is 7.2 metres long and seats all 26 people at once — deliberately the heart of the house. No separate kids' table, no second sitting for those running late. For groups whose vacation is mainly about being together, that single table makes the difference between "we're sharing a house" and "we're experiencing this together." The table sits in the living area with a direct view of the garden.

7.What tableware, glassware and cutlery is provided?

Complete tableware, glassware and cutlery for 26 people — all in a coherent style, not a patchwork of leftovers. Plates for starter, main and dessert; wine glasses, water glasses, champagne flutes; cutlery for every course. Also: pots, oven dishes, chopping boards, bowls and serving ware for group meals. What's not provided: personalised luxury linens or decoration — that's where you bring your own accent.

8.Can we cook ourselves or have catering brought in?

Both work, and both are common. Cooking yourselves is part of the stay for many groups — the kitchen has enough space and the oak table is big enough to linger around for hours. If you'd rather relax, catering at the house is straightforward: local caterers, food trucks or a private chef are happy to come. Bieke can introduce you to local names who already know the house and kitchen. No mandatory supplier.

Children & families

9.Is ArdenNest child-friendly?

Yes — often the main reason families return. The garden is 2 hectares, enclosed, and offers safe play space without parents needing to keep constant watch. A playroom indoors with toys, and a converted play barn for the very youngest. Several high chairs are available; cots we kindly ask you to bring yourselves. The house itself is robust, no white-leather-sofa stress — kids can be kids.

10.Are cots and high chairs provided?

Yes, several high chairs are available. Cots we kindly ask you to bring yourselves. For specific preferences (travel cot vs wooden cot, special seat) — let Bieke know and we'll see what's possible.

11.Is the garden safe for small children?

The garden is fully enclosed, so small children can't wander off to the road. No pool, no pond — a deliberate choice so the garden is truly worry-free for those with toddlers. But: play equipment, a football pitch, large lawns for running. What parents should still watch themselves: smaller risks like plants or a gravel path — normal garden awareness is enough.

12.What if the weather is bad?

Even in rain or cold, the house stays welcoming — the open fireplace in the living room invites you to linger for hours, the playroom and play barn keep children busy, and the oak table lends itself to long board game evenings or extended cooking sessions. With 26 people on 2 hectares, there's enough indoor space for everyone to find their spot. Don't forget: the Belgian Ardennes are at their most beautiful in rain and mist — a short walk often delivers the most atmospheric scenes.

Practical stay

13.What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 16:00, check-out by 11:00. We keep the window between free for cleaning — so you always find the house in the same condition. Bieke is there in person on arrival to welcome you and walk you through the house. For check-out we ask you to go through the short departure checklist — brief, fair, no surprises.

14.What if we arrive earlier?

An earlier check-in is sometimes possible by arrangement, depending on the cleaning that day — no guarantee, but no flat "no" either. Send Bieke a message a few days ahead and we'll see what works. Arriving really early (in the morning)? On /early-arrival on the site you'll find what's possible in the meantime — a walk around Bouillon or a terrace in Dinant, for example.

15.Is there wifi?

Yes, free wifi throughout the house — indoors and on the terrace. The connection is strong enough for multiple people streaming or video calling at once, if needed. But honestly: the best part of ArdenNest is where you put your phone down.

16.How many parking spaces are there?

Free parking for 9 cars on the property. No street parking, no blue zone, no "who parks where" worries. Caravans and larger vans welcome; let Bieke know in advance to be sure.

17.Is there an EV charging point?

Yes, one charging point on the property, no card or app — just plug in and charge, works with all electric vehicles. Consumption is tracked; after your stay you receive a settlement with a graph of the daily charge and the corresponding cost. No subscription, no surprises.

18.What is included in the price?

Standard inclusions: full bedding (sheets, duvets, pillows), bath and kitchen towels for all guests, end-of-stay cleaning, heating and basic supplies (dish soap, hand soap, toilet paper for the first days). Wifi, parking and the EV charger are included too. A complete overview is sent with your booking confirmation.

19.How does utility consumption work (heating, electricity, firewood)?

Heating and electricity are included — no surprises at the end of the stay. For the wood stove / fireplace in the living room we work with crates of wood: you pay per crate you open and use, settled fairly after the stay. Bringing your own wood for the stove is not allowed — our stove is designed for specifically dried wood, and unsuitable firewood can damage it.

20.Is the house accessible for guests with reduced mobility?

The ground floor is accessible: living room, oak table, kitchen, an accessible toilet — all reachable without stairs. All bedrooms are on the upper floor, only accessible by stairs. For guests with stair difficulties, this is something to assess carefully in advance. Send Bieke a message with the specific situation (wheelchair, walker, limited stair mobility) — we can then honestly assess whether ArdenNest is feasible, or whether another option would suit you better.

Booking, price & conditions

21.What does a stay cost?

Rates vary by season, weekdays vs weekends, and length of stay — a family weekend in October is priced differently from a week in school holidays. Current prices and availability are on /booking. Bieke can put together a personal quote for specific periods or special needs (extra cleaning, decoration, catering introduction) — a short email is enough.

22.What is the minimum stay?

Standard minimum: 2 nights. In high season (Belgian, Dutch and German school holidays, Easter, Christmas and New Year), the minimum is 7 nights — so the stay stays relaxed for you and logistically workable for us. For 3 nights during a high-season week, you can contact Bieke: sometimes an exception is possible if there are gaps in the calendar.

23.How far ahead should we book?

For popular periods (school holidays, long weekends, Christmas and New Year), we recommend booking 3 to 6 months ahead — those dates are often full a year in advance. For weekends and quieter periods (November, January-February outside holidays), 1 to 2 months is usually enough. Last-minute also works: check /booking or contact Bieke directly — sometimes a slot opens through cancellation.

24.Are there hidden costs?

No. The price on /booking is all-in: bedding, end-of-stay cleaning, heating, electricity, wifi, parking. On top of the stay rate, only the following are added: the statutory tourist tax, a deposit, and consumption of firewood (per crate opened) and the EV charger (based on actual usage). All exact rates and conditions are in the rental terms.

25.How does cancellation work?

The full cancellation policy is on /cancellation-policy — in short: the earlier you cancel, the more is refunded. We recommend every group consider cancellation insurance, especially for large group stays where the chance of a last-minute drop-out is higher. In case of force majeure (official travel ban, death in immediate family), we always look for a personal solution.

26.How do we pay?

The complete payment arrangement — deposit, balance, payment deadlines and methods — is explained in detail in the rental terms. For direct bookings via /booking you always receive an invoice. For bookings via Booking.com or Airbnb, their own payment flow applies.

27.Do we book directly or via a platform?

Both work, but direct booking via /booking is better for you and for us. For you: no platform commission (typically 15-18% on Booking.com) hidden in the price, direct line to Bieke for tailored requests, personal quote possible. For us: less dependence on platforms that can change their rules. Prefer to book via Booking.com or Airbnb? That works too — you're just as welcome.

Location, surroundings & house rules

28.How do we reach ArdenNest?

Address: Rue de la Ferme 3, 5575 Gedinne (Malvoisin), province of Namur. By car via the E411 — about 1h30 from Brussels, 1h55 from Antwerp, 2h10 from Cologne, 1h15 from Luxembourg. By public transport: train to Gedinne station, then bus line (stop Gedinne Kewet, a few minutes' walk from the house). Detailed directions + travel tips are sent with the booking confirmation.

29.What is there to do nearby?

The Belgian Ardennes are a hiking and nature region par excellence. Within cycling distance or short drive:

  • Bouillon (15 min) — medieval castle, beautiful town on the Semois.
  • Han-sur-Lesse — world-famous caves + wildlife park.
  • Rochefort — historic town, abbey, brewery.
  • Furfooz (nature park) — walks between rocks and caves.
  • Dinant — citadel, Meuse valley, birthplace of the saxophone.
  • Lesse valley — kayak and canoe.

On arrival Bieke gives you personal tips tailored to the season and group — what's beautiful in October differs from what works in July. For daily shopping (supermarket, bakery, butcher): see shops nearby.

30.Are pets allowed?

We don't welcome pets — to ensure a worry-free stay for guests with allergies, and because the upholstery and furniture wouldn't withstand repeated animal visits. We know your pet is part of the family and ask for your understanding. Looking for a holiday home where your dog is welcome? On dogsincluded.nl you'll find a fine selection of dog-friendly holiday homes.

31.Is smoking allowed?

Indoors, no smoking — for the smell in upholstery and curtains, and out of respect for the next guests. Outside on the terrace or in the garden, yes, using the provided ashtrays. Butts or cigarettes left on the grass are sensitive in the Ardennes, especially in dry summers; we ask you to dispose of everything properly.

32.Can we organise a party or event here?

ArdenNest is made for quality time — long conversations at the oak table, kids tearing around the garden, evenings that fade by the fireplace. What we are not: a party venue. Weddings, bridal suites, bachelor/ette parties with loud music, corporate parties with DJ until dawn — that doesn't fit this place or the neighbours. A birthday, anniversary or family weekend with dinner and music until a reasonable hour is of course fine. In doubt: send Bieke your plan, we'll look together.

33.Are there noise rules in the evening?

From 22:00, no more noise outside — no music on the terrace, no shouting across the garden. Talking is always fine, outside too, even after ten. It's about respect for neighbours and for the calm that makes the Ardennes special. All house rules in detail: house rules.
