    This train walk is for adventurers! From Houyet station you follow the GR126 through varied terrain with climbing passages, steep descents and spectacular rock formations.

    How does it work?

    You take the train at Gendron station towards Bertrix and get off in Houyet. From Houyet station you walk back to Gendron via the GR126 - the long-distance hiking trail that runs through the Ardennes.

    Character of the walk

    This walk is not suitable for buggies and requires sturdy footwear. The route includes:

    • Steep stairs with handrails through the forest
    • Climbing passages over rock formations
    • Steep descents where you sometimes need to use your hands
    • Narrow forest paths with roots and stones

    Highlights along the way

    • Rock formations - Impressive limestone rocks you can climb on
    • Panoramic views - Beautiful vistas over the Lesse valley
    • Varied forest - From dense beech forests to open meadows
    • The Lesse - The last part runs along the beautiful river

    Practical

    Wear sturdy shoes with good grip. In wet weather some sections can be slippery. Bring enough water - there are no facilities along the way.

    Finish in Gendron

    The walk ends at Gendron station. From here you can walk back to ArdenNest or take the train back to Dinant for a drink on a terrace.
